Why Guy McPhee Returned to Pioneer Water Tanks

THE PROBLEM

Guy McPhee owns a 70-acre property in Runnyford, New South Wales where he manages Black Angus Beef and egg production.

Upon building a new shed that provided an extra 180m2 of surface area, he decided he wanted to attach water storage to catch the extra run-off.

He originally looked at installing a couple of small 27,000L tanks to connect to the shed, but realised he’d need something much bigger to make the most of the shed roof’s capacity.

Guy already has one Pioneer tank installed on his property and one at a former property, so when looking for a new supplier he turned to his previous Pioneer dealer, Joel Flood, after researching some other options.

“We tried other companies and I’m telling you – they didn’t turn up, didn’t return our calls, and with Pioneer you know they’ll actually do the job, and that’s what I wanted,” reflects Guy.

“I wanted people who would turn up and do the job, and that’s what I got. Other companies were just chalk and cheese. They don’t cut the mustard.

“We were so impressed with Joel the first time, so when he passed us on to Aquaflo Irrigation and said they were the best tank installers in the region, there was no question.”

THE SOLUTION

The team from Aquaflo Irrigation installed a GT170 (170,000L) in Woodland Grey on Guy’s property – increasing his total water storage capacity to almost a whopping 400,000L.

They also relined his existing GT80 (80,000L) and replaced its Anodesa tank that had held up during the 2019/2020 bushfires.

“This tank just kept going. It would be 14 years old and there’s no rust at all – something you’d expect having been through the fire, but there’s nothing,” says Guy.

“Considering this is my third Pioneer tank, I think the quality speaks for itself!

“This new tank is for fire protection as well as for the cattle and chooks. When the drought hit a few years ago we ran out of water, and I don’t want that to ever happen again. That’s why I’m locking up my water supply now.”

Since installing the tank six weeks ago, Guy hasn’t received too much rain – but the region is expected to have a wet spring, so our fingers are crossed he’ll receive it soon!

“I was so impressed by the team at Aquaflo – they did exactly what they said they were going to do in the specified amount of time.

“I can’t fault anything they did. Pedro, the team leader, was absolutely brilliant and he kept us informed the whole way.

“After they built the tank, I rang up Monika from Aquaflo just to say how good a job they did. It was the right decision to go with Pioneer – now we just need the rain!”
