Why Damon Pivoted From a Bore Water Solution to a Rainwater Tank

THE PROBLEM

During 2020, Damon Laurie was trying to install a bore on his property in Denmark, Western Australia that would travel far underground to retrieve water for his household consumption.

He and the drilling team got 42 meters down – the first 7 being dirt and clay, and the rest granite. When they came back to drill further, the hole had collapsed, forcing Damon to consider other options for his water source.

“Because of all the granite, I couldn’t get to a water source,” Damon explains.

“I had someone else come look at the reticulation for the property, and he suggested getting a rainwater tank. He told me what was involved, roughly how much it would cost, and then I started to do some research.

“I knew that if I went down this avenue, I’d want double the amount of capacity than I’d originally planned to make the most of the storage.”

Damon researched different tanks and companies for a solid six months before choosing a provider. A common problem he kept running into was the hidden costs associated with a tank installation – something he wasn’t a fan of.

He then stumbled across Pioneer Dealer Direct Network® member, The Tankman Mount Barker, and the rest was history.

THE SOLUTION

“From the get-go, the team from The Tankman made it clear there were no hidden costs throughout the tank ordering process,” explains Damon.

“The sales team provided me with extra options that I might consider, but they were up-front with all costs associated.”

Damon purchased a GT130 (130,000L) with a Superseal, along with a level indicator, geotextile fabric and two outlets, one with Camlock, upon The Tankman’s recommendations.

“From the get-go, the team from The Tankman made it clear there were no hidden costs throughout the tank ordering process. The sales team provided me with extra options that I might consider, but they were up-front with all costs associated.”

“The installation guys on the ground were excellent, too – I couldn’t believe how quickly they finished on the day.

“Luckily they came before the rain, so the sand pad I’d prepared wasn’t too soft, and they were done by midday! Everyone knew what they were doing, and they cleaned up everything by the time they’d left.

“The whole process was seamless and impressive.”
