Pioneer's Steel Water Tanks have been supporting Wineries in WA for over 30 years

Western Australia is a notable fine wine producer with major wine regions in the Great Southern region, Margaret River and Swan Valley, with more smaller growing regions in places such as the Chittering Valley, Pemberton and the Perth Hills. Located so close to many of these regions - particularly the Swan Valley and Perth Hills - Pioneer Water Tanks have been supplying tanks to wineries and vineyards for more than thirty years.

Vineyards growing Table Grapes - while less common - are still prevalent all across the state, as Grapes continue to be a popular snack to eat straight out of the fridge, in lunchboxes, or on Charcuterie boards or and platters - particularly at Christmas time. Most Table Grape growers have now switched to the far more popular seedless varieties.

Grapes ager grown all across Western Australia, with the variety of climates and soils lending to a range of grape varieties being available, however these climate regions all have different water requirements. With a range of steel agricultural water tanks from 12 000L to 500 000L, Pioneer has a water storage solution for every operation.

Western Australian Wine Grapes

Western Australia represents just 5% of the production of Australian Wine Grapes, but over 20% of fine wine production, with a large local and export market and an ever growing Chinese market. The market for Western Australian wine is predominantly national, with approximately 12% of all wine produced being exported; however this number is growing with the international middle class.

Western Australia's wine regions are recognised as some of the best in the world, and production is based predominantly on cool climate viticulture and lends to premium wine varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The finished product of these Wine Grapes is worth significantly more than the Grapes themselves, and the export value alone of the Western Australian wine industry is approaching $50 million annually. About 400 wine producers make 45 million litres of wine in 350 wineries across the state.

Western Australian Table Grapes

While wine grapes may be king, Australians still love table grapes - as can be seen as they fly off the shelves at supermarkets whenever they are in season, despite their premium price tag.

The table grape industry continues to grow, now predominantly selling seedless grapes to a domestic market, and more than doubled in size from 1993 to 2014.

In the 2016/17 financial year, the production value of grapes (including wine grapes) was $106 million in Western Australia alone, making up a large portion of the fruit growing agricultural market.
