Water Storage Challenges
Storm Water Run Off
Flash flooding, and storm water runoff can cause a lot of damage within the Nandi ecosystem when a heavy downpour takes place.
A solution to this problem is the installation of a rainwater tank. Whilst this is in fact beneficial, you need to be ready for a big influx of water into your tank over a very short time period.
Every Pioneer Water Tank is manufactured with a 150mm diameter tank overflow to reduce stress being inserted into your water tank and its fittings so when a sudden downpour takes place you will be alright.
With an internal bell-mouth, our tank includes the largest standard overflow fitting on the market.
This state of the art design will minimise the potential for damage and costly repairs as a result of impactful water capture.
Bushfires - A Constant Threat
As in a number of other parts of Queensland, Nandi can possibly be subject to the threat of bushfire.
Because of this real threat, having a steel rainwater tank could prove the difference when it pertains to safeguarding your home yourself, or aiding the local fire service.
Tanks can have a dual application ie be utilised as a water storage option for the family home, along with having a volume of water as a fire reserve to be utilised if and when required.
Using Your Water Tank After A Bushfire
Check to see if your water may be contaminated by smelling it or tasting it. If it is unusual in any way, then more than likely it is in fact contaminated.
As a precaution, do not use your stored water with your food preparation or for drinking.
You can still use this water for other non human consumption purposes such as watering your lawn or garden. It is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to ensure your water is safe.
The Nandi Climate
As Nandi is located within the Eastern Downs region, it has a temperate climate with hot summers and cool winters (due to elevation). The climate is cooler than the rest of the state. The average temperature for the year is 19°C. The average temperature over summer is 25°C, in autumn and spring it is 20°C, and in winter 12°C.
