Hobart Water Tanks

Home to almost half of all Tasmanians, Hobart is the capital and most populous city of the Australian island state of Tasmania.  The city lies on country which was known by the local Mouheneener people as nipaluna. Prior to British settlement, the land had been occupied for possibly as long as 35,000 years.

For over 30 years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been building and designing water tanks that people in Hobart and in areas all across Tasmania can rely on.

People of Hobart know that they can rest assured, knowing they have the backing and support of Australia's number one big tank company.

Although much of the mainland hold the belief that Tasmania is a grassy land of abundant rains, people in Tasmania know better, and are mindful of their water storage needs.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Thanks to prevalent green drought, much of Tasmania is susceptible to wildfires, thanks to dry soil and weak vegetation, despite the verdant and lush appearance of much of the state.

It is crucial in any rural setting to ensure that you are doing the most you can to protect yourself from bushfire. You can do this by making sure that you have a bushfire action plan, as well as sufficient water storage for fire fighting purposes.

In order to ensure your water tank can be used for the purposes of both residential water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

A Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition in bushfire simulation when testing was done by the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in partnership with the CSIRO.

After thirty minutes of submersion in flame, the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water, a vital feature for firefighting efforts, while the other tanks tested either melted or cracked, causing their water to be partially or fully lost.

If your water tank has been exposed to fire, it is essential to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be suited for purposes such as watering gardens or lawns.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Hobart climate

Hobart has a mild temperate oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, cool and moist winters and the fewest hours of daily sunshine of any Australian capital city.

The city of Hobart averages 565.9mm of rainfall annually, with the majority of this rainfall between the months of August and December.

The last 15–20 years has seen Hobart's wine industry thrive as many vineyards have developed in countryside areas outside of the city in the Coal River Wine Region.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across rural Australia, rainfall is often a welcome sight, and Tasmania is certainly no different.

When steady rainfall builds up, this can result in flooding and storm water run off, which can cause damage to property and the environment, particularly in areas where man made infrastructure such as roads and footpaths cause the water to be unable to soak in to the soil.

If Hobart received 100mm of rain in a 24 hour deluge, it would require just 100 homes to have water tanks to keep 2 million litres of water from entering stormwater systems and contributing to stormwater runoff and flooding damages.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

Proven to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in your water tank, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner available on the market, and a Pioneer Water tanks exclusive.

The Aqualiner Fresh ® utilises Sanitized ® technology, with the antibacterial properties of silver, interwoven into the water tank liner.

The most scientifically advanced, cleanest and strongest liner available on the market, this is an industry leading product, made up of five distinct layers to protect and store your water.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile has been engineered for durability, and developed with the sole purpose of water storage in mind.

This V-Lock panel profile is designed not only for strength and durability of the tank wall itself by engineering the sheets to the ideal thickness for each panel, but also to protect the tank liner, preventing stretching and wear as the tank fills and empties.

The design was deemed so good, in terms of structural integrity and aesthetic appeal, it won an Australian Design Award.

Australian made water tanks - Tasmanian local service

Pioneer Water Tanks Dealer Direct Network is made up of over fifty water tank dealers across the country, meaning we can provide truly local service to all Australians.

In Tasmania, we are proud to be partnered with Statewide Tanks, who are able to assist with all your water storage demands.

We ensure that our dealers are of the best quality, as we know that a water tank is only as good as the person who builds it.
