The Heathcote Climate

The mean maximum temperature in January 28.7 °C, although temperatures above 35 °C are commonly reached. The mean minimum temperature in July is 3.5 °C and temperatures below 0 °C are recorded 28 nights per year on average.
Most of Heathcote's 582.1 millimetres or annual rainfall falls between May and September.
Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer.
Bushfire preparation
Australia is world-renowned for having long hot summers, and if you discount the obvious outlier in Antarctica, is the driest continent on the planet. This, along with the life cycle of many native plants, leaves much of New South Wales vulnerable to widespread bushfires.
With wide-spread green drought across the state, Victoria is struck by the worst of the bushfire seasons far too often for locals to underestimate the threat posed by bushfires.
As well as having a bushfire action plan, an important way to get ready for the dry summer months is to ensure that you have an adequate amount of water storage to help protect you from the threat of fire, and a Pioneer Water Tank helps provide that protection.
Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve in your tank, to ensure it can be used for both household water storage and fire protection.
Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions.
The CSIRO carried out bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in partnership with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank stood up better than the competition.
All other tanks evaluated either melted or split, causing them to shed valuable water, however the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water after being subjected to the full 30-minute fire front, which could prove vital to fire fighting efforts.
While a water tank will still prove adequate for watering gardens or lawns, if it has been exposed to fire, it is highly recommended that you get the tank water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is still safe for household use.

Heathcote Water Storage Challenges
In a nation that is known for being as dry as Australia, it is no surprise that most people take delight at the idea of rainfall, however changing climate conditions that lead to unpredictable storms, paired with modern infrastructure such as roads and footpaths can result in stormwater runoff and flash flooding.
The installation of a rainwater tank can be a great tool in helping to prevent damaging water runoff, and support stormwater systems.
If an unexpected weather event drops 100mm of rain in Heathcote in just 24 hours, it would tank only 100 homes fitted with water tanks to keep 2 million litres of water from running down roads and filling storm drains.
Heathcote Historical Fact
The first European known to have visited the district was Major Thomas Mitchell in 1836. By 1851 about 400 Europeans lived on some 16 pastoral properties in the area.
Late in 1852 gold was discovered at McIvor Creek. Within six months some 40,000 miners were camped in the vicinity. It proved to be one of the richest finds during the Australian gold rushes, but the gold was so easily found that it was soon largely exhausted and by the end of the year a large proportion of the miners had already left for other recent finds.
With the decline of gold mining the region took on an increased importance as a pastoral district.
