Bullsbrook Water Tanks

Bullsbrook - formerly known as Bullsbrook East - is a predominantly rural suburb of Perth located in the City of Swan. For over 30 years, Pioneer Water Tanks have been a premier water tank supplier for Bullsbrook and surrounding areas.

The Shire of Swan is viewed by many who live in Perth or interstate as a holiday area full of wineries and orchards, but those who live in the area know it also contains a large rural community with important grazing and crop industries and is prone to long periods of drought.

Pioneer Water Tank owners in Bullsbrook can take comfort in the knowledge they have the support of Australia's leading big tank manufacturer.

The original Bullsbrook townsite is located slightly west of the current town, on the 17 km mark of the Midland Railway, and is well serviced by several major transport networks including the Great Northern Highway - which runs through the town -  Brand Highway to the north, Chittering Road to the east and Neaves Road to the west.

The Bullsbrook Climate

The Bureau of Meteorology operates a weather station at RAAF Base Pearce. Bullsbrook has a Mediterranean climate, like the rest of the Perth metropolitan region.

Bullsbrook is among the hottest parts of the metropolitan region during summer, and has an average annual rainfall of 652.1mm, almost 100mm less than Perth itself.

The areas around Bullsbrook are predominantly used for grazing cattle, however there are several horse studs in the region, and wineries in the neighbouring Swan Valley and Chittering Valley.

Bullsbrook Water Storage Challenges

In a nation that is known for being as dry as Australia, it is no surprise that most people take delight in the thought of rainfall, however evolving weather conditions that lead to unpredictable storms, paired with modern infrastructure such as roads and footpaths can lead to stormwater runoff and flash flooding.

Installing a rainwater tank with proper guttering can help alleviate struggling stormwater systems from some of the rainfall, and help to decrease the risk of flash flooding.

If we suppose the average roof in Bullsbrook is 200m2, then in the case of a weather event that drops 150mm of rainfall, like freak rains in early 2022, it would only need 100 homes to have installed rainwater tanks to keep over 3 million litres of water from turning into stormwater runoff.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire Preparation

While the Swan area is beautiful with its creeks and rolling hills, like much of Western Australia the area is vulnerable to extensive bushfires in the sunny summer months, as long periods without rainfall cases vegetation and grass to become dry.

It is important in any rural setting to make sure that you are doing the most you can to protect yourself from bushfires. You can do this by ensuring that you have a bushfire action plan, as well as adequate water storage for fire fighting purposes.

To ensure your water tank can be used for both household or property water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

The best performed water tank in bushfire conditions

When the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC together with the CSIRO performed bushfire simulations on a selection of water tanks, a steel Pioneer Water Tank held up best.

Notably, unlike the other tanks - which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could prove crucial to firefighting efforts.

While a water tank will still prove adequate for watering gardens or lawns, if it has been exposed to fire, it is highly recommended that you get the tank water tested as soon as possible to ensure that it is still safe for household use.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh ® antimicrobial water tank liner

A Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner on the market, proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria inside your water tank.

The natural antimicrobial properties of silver and Sanitized ® technology are woven into the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner.

The most technologically advanced, cleanest and strongest liner available on the market, this is an industry-leading product, comprised of five distinct layers to protect and store your water.

Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile, also exclusive to Pioneer Water Tanks, has been designed with the singular purpose of water storage.

The V-Lock wall profile is manufactured to put the steel where it is needed most, for the best possible strength and support, in addition to protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

It's a design so good, that it won an Australian Design Award for its superior strength and internal support, in addition to its aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Australian made water tanks - Bullsbrook local service

Pioneer Water Tanks can provide truly local service to all Australians, no matter where they are based, thanks to the Pioneer Dealer Direct Network, comprised of more than 50 experienced water tank dealers.

The Pioneer Dealer for all areas from the Swan Valley to the Chittering Valley - Water Torque - are able to assist with all of your rainwater tank queries in Bullsbrook, there to help you from the installation of your water tank and throughout its service life.

Bullsbrook Historical Fact

The local Aboriginal people and custodians of the land are Whadjuk Noongar people, who have long inhabited the historic lands of the Swan coastal plain, dating back some 40,000 years. The land provided a natural abundance of food and water resources and the traditional owners developed a rich history of customs in the area.

European settlement of the area dates from the 1890s, following the construction of the Midland railway line and military land use commenced from 1935. The most significant development occurred from the 1970s, with further population growth in the early 1990s.

The name originates from the railway station, established during the construction of the Midland Railway in the 1890s and named after an adjacent watercourse, Bull's Brook.
