Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer.

Bushfire preparation

Whilst much of The South West appears lush and green, akin to much of Western Australia the area is vulnerable to wide spread bushfires in the warm summer months.

The Gloucester Tree - an icon of the South West - was originally chosen as a fire lookout by forest rangers in 1947, so they could scout the landscape for the first signs of smoke.

In addition to having a bushfire action plan, an important way to get ready for the dry summer months is to be certain that you have adequate water storage to help protect you from the risk posed by fire, and a Pioneer Water Tank helps provide that protection.

So as to ensure your water tank could be used for the purposes of both residential or property water storage, as well as fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions.

When the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC together with the CSIRO performed bushfire simulations on a variety of water tanks, a steel Pioneer Water Tank stood up best.

Notably, contrary to the other tanks - which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could very well prove vital to firefighting endeavours.

If your water tank has been subjected to fire, it is important to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to ensure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be good enough for purposes like watering gardens or lawns.

Boyanup Water Storage Challenges

Whilst rainfall is a welcomed sight across this dry nation of ours, changing weather conditions causing heavy storms, and modern infrastructure such as bitumen and concrete, often leads to the accumulation of water and flash flooding, which can result in damage to property and the environment.

Because of the amount of rainwater that can be harvested from a roof with sufficient guttering, installing a rainwater tank can help alleviate some of the stress on stormwater systems.

If we suppose the average roof inBoyanup is 200m2, then in the case of a weather event that dropped 100mm of rainfall, it would only need 100 homes to have installed rainwater tanks to keep over 2 million litres of water from becoming stormwater run off.

The Boyanup Climate

Boyanup has a Mediterranean climate with warm to hot, dry summers and cool wet winters. Rainfall peaks between the months of May and September.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference.

Aqualiner Fresh ® antimicrobial water tank liner.

Pioneer understands the importance of clean water, particularly when it comes to drinking water for you and your family. The Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the only antimicrobial tank liner available on the market today, and is proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The Aqualiner Fresh ® utilises Sanitized ® technology, with the antibacterial properties of silver, interwoven into the water tank liner.

The most technologically advanced, cleanest and strongest liner available on the market, this is an industry-leading product, comprised of five individual layers to protect and store your water.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile has been engineered for durability, and designed with the sole purpose of water storage in mind.

The V-Lock wall profile is engineered to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimum durability and support, as well as protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping as a result of the tank filling and emptying.

Don't just take our word for it, the design is so sound, it won an Australian Design Award for its strength and visual appeal.

Australian made water tanks - Boyanup local service

Pioneer Water Tanks Dealer Direct Network is comprised of over fifty water tank dealers across the country , meaning we can provide truly local service to all Australians.

It is essential that our water tank dealers are specialists in water tank construction, as a water tank is only as good as the person who builds it.

In Boyanup, your local Pioneer Water Tanks Dealer is Huckleberry's Tank & Water Service, who are fully qualified tank installers who also specialise in plumbing and water carting.

Boyanup Historical Fact

Boyanup is a Noongar name, said to mean "a place of quartz" as "Boya" means "rock" or "stone". A road survey in 1869 shows the town name as "Boyinup".

The first European in the area was Lieutenant Henry William Bunbury, who in December 1836 explored the route from Pinjarra to Busselton and thought it to be ideal for farming.
