The CSIRO conducted bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in partnership with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank stood up better than the competition.

As part of the Campaspe River crossing, an underpass for the Rail Trail was also built under the McIvor Highway.
