Water Storage for a New Home with Kathryn Swetman

Kathryn Swetman from Chittering, Western Australia

THE PROBLEM

Kathryn and her family have recently completed building their new home in Chittering, Western Australia on a 5-acre block of land.

What often comes with building and living in the country? Not having scheme water – which meant the family was in need of water storage for household consumption, gardening, fruit trees and a few animals.

During the build, Kathryn researched numerous types of tanks, companies and construction processes.

“What I was mainly looking at was the warranty and if they’re a local company,” Kathryn reflects.

“We got our research list down to three suppliers, and then I also started looking at what people in the area were using. We weighed up what was better for us and what company provided the best size.

“Some tanks are very tall and big which we didn’t really like, while others have a wider base that would look neater next to our house.

“For the sizes we wanted, Pioneer Water Tanks had the better shape for the capacity.

“Add that to having local back-up, we were sold – if something were to ever go wrong it’s important to us that we have someone local for repairs or help.”

THE SOLUTION

Kathryn approached Pioneer Dealer Direct Network® member Watertorque for their water storage solution, who had installed a number of tanks in their region.

She purchased a GT250 (250,000L) which was installed in March this year. The tank was fitted out with dustproofing, a 50mm fire outlet and level indicator.

“This tank replaced two small poly tanks that had been impacted by a small fire at the rear of the property,” outlines Watertorque Sales Coordinator, David Turner.

“That fire had been a shed fire, and it meant we needed something urgently. The Watertorque team were excellent to deal with in this aspect – on the phone and on email.

“They let me know exactly when they’d come, and the tank was up so quickly. Being in the country, I didn’t expect that. They were very neat and didn’t leave any materials behind.”

“The team on the ground were also very good – they provided plenty of feedback on how the ground should be prepared and gave me all the paperwork on how to look after the tank.

“They let me know exactly when they’d come, and the tank was up so quickly. Being in the country, I didn’t expect that. They were very neat and didn’t leave any materials behind.”

Since installing the tank in March, how much rain has Kathryn received?

“We’ve had so much rain lately that it’s full – all 250,000L of it! It’s working very well.”
