Paul’s Story

THE PROBLEM

Paul is the Boreman on Paraway Pastoral Co Rocklands and his team’s station faced a big problem: keeping quality water up to a thirsty and expanding herd of cattle.

Rocklands is Paraway’s largest cattle breeding operation, situated on the border of Queensland and the Northern Territory on the Barkly Tableland some 7km from the township of Camooweal.

The existing tanks were no longer meeting the water needs of the station’s growing enterprise.

Looking after their stock requires access to large amounts of good quality water.

Rocklands had big plans to expand from 40,000 head of cattle to 70,000 - and that’s when manager Ben McGlynn asked Paul to organise the water side for the development program.

THE SOLUTION

In January 2018, Rocklands bought 120 GT 220 Zincalume Tanks from Pioneer as part of the Water Development Program. That’s a lot of water!

Paul knew he wanted to do business with an Australian Company who understood his specific problems and could deliver a reliable long-term solution.

Paraway Pastoral decided Pioneer was the best option “by far” thanks to our better value for money, reliable service, and prompt delivery direct to Rocklands. Paul says the other companies didn’t offer any of these options.

Pioneer employee Jared Wilson was Paul’s first point of contact for the sale.

“Jared has been very helpful to us at all times and has always kept in touch – he’s visited twice since the purchase,” says Paul.

“He’s provided sponsorship from Pioneer Water Tanks for Camooweal Community events, which is very well regarded by the people in our local area.

“Pioneer flew me to Perth so I could learn how to build the tanks, have a tour of their factory and meet more members of the Pioneer team.

“I would highly recommend anyone to purchase a Pioneer Water Tank over any of the other tank options, and I especially recommend Jared Wilson – he’s a great asset to Pioneer, and after dealing with him for 18 months I consider him a good friend.”

The station chose to install quality steel Pioneer Water Tanks instead of building earth tanks.

“Earth tanks often result in a large loss of water through evaporation and seepage, as well as the possibility of trough pipe lines becoming blocked due to weed growth.”

Paul made a smart decision in contacting an expert for advice on his unique situation. At Pioneer Water Tanks this is what we do. We listen to your needs and advise the most efficient method to achieve your goals and objectives.
