THE PROBLEM
Grant Hobbs is an ex-wool classer who lives on 28 acres of land just west of Beverley, Western Australia. Over his extensive career he visited many stations, and he used to run cattle on his own property.
10 years ago he decided to increase his water storage to back up his existing water supply for his cattle, with the idea that it would also feed his house.
A number of years ago he sold his cattle (topping market prices on his last sale!) as he moved into retirement. Fast forward to 2021, he wanted to increase his water storage once again to make the most of his rainfall while feeding the house and mixed fruit orchard.

THE SOLUTION
Having travelled across many stations over the years, Grant was no stranger to quality water tanks.
“When I was reviewing options, all the other tanks I saw looked quite cheap – they didn’t have the heavy corrugation like Pioneer has,” Grant reflects.
“Some of them are just done with flat, cheap metal and they don’t look very impressive at all.
“Back then as well, Pioneer offered the best deal when it came down to the cost per unit.”
He approached Pioneer Direct 10 years ago who installed 2x GT250s (250,000L) on his property for the cattle and household. When he wanted to increase his water storage once again this year, it was a no brainer to come back to Pioneer.
The team installed another 2x GT250s on his property a few months back. Including an existing GT90 (90,000L) tank on-site, Grant now has a combined water storage capacity of 1.3 million litres.
Thanks to the recent rain he’s received, all four GT250s are currently half full. If the area has a normal winter, Grant expects the tanks to be overflowing come spring.

“All tanks are interconnected with each other so I can pump every which way,” he explains.
“They’re connected to my sheds and my house – the only shed that I couldn’t connected it to was my 3m x 3m garden shed!”
