MEET the Coffey family from Boreelum Station, near Miriam Vale, Central Coast QLD. Since moving down from the NT just over a year ago, Adam and Jac, and their two young boys, Sam and Will, have run cattle in a trading and breeding enterprise.
HOW DID THE COFFEYS GET INTO THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY?
Unlike our previous Farming Family Proud families, the Coffeys are first-generation farmers. They built up their assets through managing stations in Northern Australia for corporate agricultural companies, building a cattle herd under different lease and agistment arrangements, and trading in the property market.
Despite the hard work the Coffeys obviously undertook to get to this point, Adam is quick to acknowledge the contribution of others.
“We’ve been very fortunate to have encountered some wonderful people who have helped and mentored us along the way.”
WHAT MAKES IT A FAMILY AFFAIR?
“Our family love to visit and help out where they can, whether that be babysitting our kids, or helping us out in the yards when we need a spare hand. This is the best office in the world and what better way to live then to be able to involve your children in something they may want in their future one day.”
WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT LIFE ON A CATTLE STATION?
“The lifestyle, knowing that we have the tools to do the best for our land and our cattle. The knowledge that if you work hard and smart your options are endless.”
