Daniela’s Family Home Water Storage Story

Ledwith Family from Kulin, Western Australia

THE PROBLEM

Daniela is building a new home with her husband Luke and son in Kulin, Western Australia which is situated on the family farm, where they run sheep and grow wheat.

They’re not on scheme water, so while planning the build they worked out the capacity of rainfall the house roof will catch – and in turn, how much water storage they’ll need to hold all of it.

“We don’t have another water source, so we want to be able to collect as much rain as possible,” explains Daniela.

“We’ve been in drought for the last few years, so we wanted to make sure we had enough capacity for when we do eventually receive that big rain.”

The couple made sure their house’s gutters were large enough to capture as much water as possible in the tank.

“The team were excellent from start to finish. They sent an information sheet on how to prepare the pad which was very helpful, and the installation guys on the day were great. They asked if I wanted anything specific and recommended a few things – which I went with. They were very quick and efficient.

THE SOLUTION

When it came to choosing a water storage provider, Daniela and Luke were recommended Pioneer Dealer Direct Network® member Price’s Fabrication & Steel numerous times.

“I’d heard of them before and I knew they had a good reputation,” reflects Daniela.

“And because we’re going to use the water for household consumption, we want it to be the cleanest it can possibly be. We’d heard Pioneer Water Tanks deliver a quality product for this type of storage.”

Daniela attended the Woolorama Field Days because she knew the Price’s team would be there – and she ordered the tank right there and then.

After discussing with Rachel from Price’s on the best price options, they settled on a GT150 (150,000L).

“The team were excellent from start to finish. They sent an information sheet on how to prepare the pad which was very helpful, and the installation guys on the day were great. They asked if I wanted anything specific and recommended a few things – which I went with. They were very quick and efficient.

“The Pioneer website is also excellent for resources – their calculator is very accurate. I found the whole process easy.”

While the tank is purely for household use, Daniela decided to put an extra fitting on one side of the tank to draw water for troughs if needed.

“We’ll only use this if we know there’s going to be a large amount of rain and the Pioneer tank might overflow. We got a level indicator to make sure we can easily keep an eye on things.”

The family has just passed the halfway mark on their house build and the tank is about to be connected to the gutters – good luck for the remainder of the build, Daniela and Luke!
