Ciara’s Water Tank Problem, and Pioneer’s Helpful Solution

Ciara from Wanneroo, WA

THE PROBLEM

Back in 2017, Ciara purchased a residential block in metropolitan Perth where she planned to build her new home.

An area that was saved when a housing development went through, the block is slightly larger than normal – which was exactly what Ciara was after so she could adapt the space for her own purposes.

She didn’t want to rely on scheme water, so a non-negotiable when building the house was to include plumbing for a water tank. Ciara undertook a considerable amount of research when choosing a brand and seriously looked at plastic water tank designs.

Come 2018, it was Pioneer Water Tanks’ 30th birthday where we celebrated with a 30-year guarantee on all tanks – perfect timing for Ciara’s project!

“The Pioneer staff were really helpful –

they gave me all the details and specifications within an hour

of the call so I could look at what they were offering,”

THE SOLUTION

When Ciara contacted the main Pioneer branch in Perth, the team put her straight through to Pioneer Direct Dealer Network® member Watertorque, who installed a GT120 (120,000L) in Ciara’s property in March 2018.

“The Pioneer staff were really helpful – they gave me all the details and specifications within an hour of the call so I could look at what they were offering,” explains Ciara.

“Then they put me directly onto Watertorque, who was really good at giving me all the information I needed and also helped me find someone to prepare the sand pad.”

Having originally looked at plastic water tanks, Ciara says she decided to go with the steel option because of the longevity and larger capacity.

“When we looked at the per kilolitre price, it was much more economical way of doing it.”

There was a particular hiccup along the way, though. Originally, Ciara actually purchased a larger tank than the GT120, and right at the final hour the council refused approval – not what you want to hear when you’ve just invested in such a large product!

“Watertorque found another purchaser for that tank, so we didn’t have to lose any deposits, and then we transferred over to a smaller tank,” says Ciara.

“They didn’t need to do that, so it was really helpful – and someone in Mount Barker didn’t have to wait for their tank because they got mine straight up! It was a really good experience.”

Now with her GT120, Ciara uses her water tank for household consumption as well as her garden, where she’s growing a small orchard and large number of vegetable beds.

“The water tank has helped immensely with growing our own food – I don’t think I could afford the water bill if I didn’t have that water supply.”
